InJewels Giveaway!

OK! Are you feeling a bit bah-humbug rather than ho-ho-ho jolly? Want a little stocking stuffer to lighten your mood? Here’s a little Blog Love for you! I am hosting a giveaway with InJewels! They have an array of creative jewelry pieces that I know you will love! I love their fertility bracelets. There’s so many to choose from. What I especially like is how they incorporate specialty gem stones that have fertility boosting powers.

The Moonstone Fertility Bracelet is their most popular style (pictured to the left). It has a lotus flower which is a symbol for the sun, creation, rebirth, divinity, and fertility. And the stones are the moonstone (said to regulate a menstrual cycle and boost female energy), rose quartz (said to encourage fertility and emotional stability), clear crystal quartz (said to have healing, protection and balancing properties), and aventurine (which supports women’s reproductive health and the green color symbolizes a fertile earth).

They also have awareness bracelets, healing bracelets, love bracelets and freindship bracelets among others (including pregnancy bracelets if you have found yourself lucky enough to be wearing one of those! ;-) ). I also love one of their inspirational necklaces called Believe pictured below. It has a “Believe” Tibetan charm, a creamy fresh water pearl, and your choice of gemstone (The amethyst is pictured).

The best part about this giveaway is that InJewels is letting you choose which piece you would like to have! Yup, that’s right, simply go to their website and write a comment below, telling us which piece is your favorite. That is the main entry and must be included to win!

Believe!

It’s another special blog love post for this month. I know with Christmas less than 2 weeks away and Hanukkah in 8 days, it may be hard to have happy thoughts and feel merry and bright. All the commercials are centered around happy kids waiting for Santa, the mailbox may be filling with holiday cards adorned with adorable baby pictures from your family and friends, and every-one’s talking about the perfect gifts to give. But your perfect gift isn’t the one you can wrap up with a big bow and leave under the tree. And most likely, you’re having a hard time believing the happy family holiday you once dreamed of will ever happen. Well, I’m here to boost your beliefs.

One Christmas (not too long ago) I was feeling very low. Although I already had my one little IVF miracle, I had tried all of that year unsuccessfully with 6 months of natural trying, a chemical pregnancy from a fresh IVF cycle, and a negative result from an FET. I found it hard to believe that we could be anything more than a family of three. And, then the next FET we did after the holiday worked and the following Christmas was the first for my twins who are now 2 years old! Believe in miracles!

I am leaving you this video I had linked to last year. It is a powerful one. My wish is that it gives you some hope…I believe that there’s a change around the corner.

Fertile Garden Giveaway!

Good morning everyone and Happy ICLW! If you’re new here I am so happy you came by!  Please peruse my newly organized sidebar for a little of what’s been going on!

iusb_760x100_7284820

Now onto the BIG excitement for the day! I am starting a giveaway courtesy of Fertile Garden “where hope helps things grow.” It’s an amazing shop of hand made fertility & pregnancy bracelets, fertility jewelry and inspiring art featured on Etsy and Shop Handmade! (The owner herself is going through infertility and rounding out an IVF cycle. She also tweets and blogs! So be sure to check those out!)

I LOVE her jewelry because each piece uses high quality gemstones  “which have special metaphysical properties that are used to enhance fertility and sustain pregnancy.” Some gemstones used most often in Fertile Garden’s pieces are amethyst (which is said to “purify and transmute negativity, boost production of hormones and peace of mind, and give patience and calmness despite overwhelming odds“), moonstone (which ”promotes love, hope and fertility“) and rose quartz (which “are the beads of love and fertility, soothes the heart and promotes peace“). The jewelry is also adorned with charms that are unique fertile symbols like butterflies (“symbols of the soul“), elephants (“symbol of love and virility” said to “increase fertility luck“), and turtles (“symbol of fertility and vitality, known for patience and tenacity“).

Fertile Garden would like to giveaway this beautiful necklace to one lucky reader!

il_430xN_158584317This beautiful antique bronze fertility necklace features a lovely pendant circle with 5 wire-wrapped moonstone dangles, resembling eggs in the nest, all watched over by two sweet and nurturing mother birds. Birds symbolize love, loyalty and good fortune.”

To enter: Simply View the shop of items and leave a comment on this post about which piece you would most like to have. Please include your e-mail in your comment so I can contact you!

Invites

Sorry for not posting any new topics…this week sort of got away from me! But it seems as though July is a popular month for get togethers (showers, Christenings, birthdays) so I thought I’d recycle my posts on invitations to baby/child related events. Here they are! And don’t be shy! Add a comment or two about your experience or thoughts on this topic! ;-)

Declining with Dignity

So, if even the thought of an invitation to a baby related event gives you images of sobbing in the ladies room, you may have a legitimate reason to not attend. If you can’t emotionally be there, then perhaps you shouldn’t physically be there either. (By the way, this decision is perfectly okay and don’t let anyone convince you otherwise!)

Keep in mind though, there is really only one way to decline with your dignity still in tact as my previous commentators mentioned…graciously RSVP with a no, but send a gift.

If you really can’t stomach looking through a registry of gifts, then by all means send a gift card. Believe me when I tell you that it is NOT as thoughtless as some may think. As a mom, I love, love, LOVE to get gift cards because then it gives me the freedom to get the things for my kids that they REALLY need! Problem solved, guilt averted, and life goes on!  ;-)

10 Ways to Enjoy the Holidays #10

When you’re going through infertility, the holidays can be very painful. I know first hand what it’s like to see all the toy commercials, receive all the baby photo cards from family and friends, and feel so empty inside when you don’t have little ones to share your holiday traditions with.

While filling the void isn’t easy, you can distract yourself just enough so that you can still enjoy the holidays whether you spend them with family and friends (with or without children) or alone. I have written some ways to help.

presents

Way #10: Rule out the perfect gift. This is not the least important. In fact it is probably the most crucial way to stay focused on jolly music, twinkling lights and yummy egg-nog. And that’s why it is definitely worth mentioning first.

We all know that the perfect gift is what you’ve wanted for a VERY long time and what you’ve been working so hard to get (whether it has been through diligent yet unsuccessful tries at home, or through researching ways to improve your chances or going through IUI or IVF one after another.)

We also know that the perfect gift won’t be sitting there under your tree (or menorah) wrapped up in a pretty bow, the timing is just not there. And if you are in the midst of a cycle, expecting news any day now, DO NOT associate your news with having the best holiday! You must separate the two. You will be that much happier if you do indeed get the news you were hoping for and won’t be as disappointed if you don’t. Let’s be honest here, any negative news does have the potential of ruining your holiday. But you have the power to not let it! If you don’t get the “perfect” gift you were hoping for this year, it’ ok. By next holiday, you may be surprised at who may join you under that tree!

*Two Christmases ago, I was devastated at trying all year for another baby unsuccessfully. I tried to make it special for my daughter but a nagging feeling consumed me. This year, my family is nothing like I imagined it would be from last year. My twins will celebrate their third holiday and my daughter will have her fifth. You just never know what’s in store for you in the future. Keep your spirits high and be merry and bright to the possibilities out there! *
