My Wish

wish pebbles--go on, take one!

Yes, I’m still here. I’ve just been insanely busy. But tonight, I wanted to let you know, as I am on the verge of my memoir becoming a reality for  you to purchase and read, I have thought about all of you. Those who are reading, those who are struggling, those that need a voice…I am here. I am about to share my story with the world and although I have always considered myself an open book, I am feeling quite vulnerable. But, I am doing it for you, hoping that my story will help others in the process. And, I have a lot of exciting things to share and as they come, I will. I promise.

Tonight, I am leaving you with Rascal Flatts–My Wish. It has been a favorite of mine for a while. I think the lyrics really speak to the entire infertility community. So do pass it along.  “My wish for you is that this life becomes all that you want it to. Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small…I hope you know somebody loves you.”

*And, since I’ve got a bit of Irish in me (through marriage), I thought I’d pass along some Good luck this week as St. Patrick’s Day be approachin’! ;-)

I Won’t Give Up

I was recently on Aly’s blog, The Infertility Overachievers, where she now writes about raising two IVF miracles. I loved her newest post The New Sound of Infertility because I have lots of similar thoughts. She also included a link to  a beautiful song “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz that I wanted to repost here for my Blog Love post a day early. It really resonates with me and the struggles I’ve had with infertility.  I especially love the part, “I don’t want to be someone who walks away so easily. I’m here to stay and make the differences that I can make…” because it stikes a chord with everything I am still trying to do for the IF community. And I love the part, “At least we did intend for us to work, we didn’t break, we didn’t burn. We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in. I had to learn what I’ve got and what I’m not and who I am.” It made me cry and smile so big at the same time! This just very well may be your new empowerment song! I love it!! ;-)

So, in the words of the song, “I won’t give up on us, even if the skies are rough. I’m giving you ALL my love. I’m still looking up!” Have an amazing week!

Chime in on other songs that really resonate with you. I’d love to hear them!

It’s Coming on Christmas

So, It’s Blog Love Monday where I usually feature 3 bloggers at random and write about their happenings in their life according to their most recent blog posts. But this month during the holidays I’ve decided to change things up a bit. I know the holidays are pretty difficult when dealing with infertility. I’ve been there. And, while I would love to give some extra love out there to some ladies, I know you all need a lot of love. So, I’m going to do a little something special each Monday this month to share some blog love to all of you who happen to stop by.

I was just decorating my tree and started listening to my Christmas play list and heard this song. It’s called River by Sarah McLachlan. It’s pretty old, many of you probably have heard it before. It really is one of my favorites because it carries so much emotion. I wanted to share it with all of you because I think when we are going through infertility, we all wish we had a river we could skate away on, especially when “it’s coming on Christmas“. The lyrics are beautiful. I want you to take it in and remember that we are all here, perhaps hurting and feeling alone.  While everyone is “Cutting down trees, putting up reindeer and singing songs of joy and peace,” all we may want to do is hide and skate away. But, we can have faith. It may be coming on Christmas, but it’s also coming on a new year of possibilities. Believe in the magic of the holiday season and don’t let that slip away.

Here’s a great video to inspire you while you listen…

Lovin’ Ryan & Michelle, Baby On Mind, and Danielle

 It’s Blog Love time!! :-)

IMG_0045 bwOK, first up is Ryan and Michelle from In Pursuit of Parenthood. They recently wrote a wonderful post with the words from Let It Be. What a great song that really hits home for so many of us. And her Been There, Done That! post is great to let others know what she’s tried so she can ease her anxiety about explaining herself when people make suggestions. I LOVE that!

IMG_2905Next, we have Baby On Mind. In her newest insensitive post, she is venting about a baby shower invite. I think many of us have been there, so go give her some support! And she’s going to start some non-IF related posts as she waits for an upcoming IVF cycle which I LOVE because sometimes it’s nice to take a break and write about other things. It helps us get to know you better too!

pink timAnd last we have Danielle from Barricades and Brickwalls. She turned forty-one since her last cycle and just started a natural cycle IVF.  (Psst…Go wish her some luck!) She recently embodied the icon to my right (which I LOVE) over the holidays. Maybe we can all learn something from Tim Gunn! ;-)

The Waiting Game

time-warpAs we wait for an adoption, Clomid, IUI, IVF or other type of cycle to begin, progress or be finalized, it can be very hard to play the waiting game. We can drive ourselves crazy with obsessing as many minutes as our minds take us there or we can distract ourselves just enough to get through each day or even each hour.

As I went through IVF, I wanted to arm myself with as much information as possible so I was constantly reading, writing on the various infertility message boards out there and trying to connect with others going through the same experiences. But when I wanted to ‘un-glue’ so to speak, I usually immersed myself into my favorite TV shows and movies. I also love to be crafty so I crocheted, did some scrapbooking, and even taught myself how to quilt. Music was also a sanctuary for me. Sometimes, if I had a few moments or hours, I would listen to my favorite tunes and just try not to think about anything at all. And mostly, I napped whenever I could.

How do you cope with the waiting game? Do you have some pretty good distractions that ease your stress and allow you some peace? Sound off and share! ;-)

Lovin’ Kaitlin, Melissa, & Stacy

Yay! Another Blog Love Monday!

First up is Kaitlin from Ah My Married Life. She has been in a funk lately but recently celebrated her mom’s birthday. She has been doing a 30 day blog journal which is a pretty cool way to get to know her! Go give her some blog love!

3-21-10-2Next, we have Melissa from So it Goes. She has been really stressed since having an IVF chat and realizing this is her one shot to try for baby #2 (which she has been doing for nearly 3 years). She is also trying to lose weight (and succeeding but also gaining), so lend her some support! Good luck with this cycle Melissa and congrats on your 400th post!

IMG_4607And lastly, we have Stacy from The Royal Report. She’s dealing with work stress at the moment but is finding motivation from singing in her choir. (This songwas especially uplifting!) She aslo has a heavy heart as she comes to terms with not doing anymore to try to have children (after 12 years). We’re here for you Stacy! Huge hugs!!

Win a Necklace, Hear some music, follow along!

OK…so in case you missed it, there’s a little giveaway I’m having from Fertile Garden. See the post below  for all the details. It’s a beautiful necklace and I’m really quite excited about it!!

music_clef    So I’ve been debating about my new playlist on my sidebar. I was only able to get a handful of the songs from my Inspiring Tunes post (and of course I’ll continue to add more on, so feel free to write a comment about a song or two you love). But what I’m wondering about is…should I put the list on automatic play? And maybe random? Will that be a tad annoying or a soothing welcome? What do you guys think? Would you rather click play to hear the music?  I would love your opinions!! Thanks! ;-)   (I have a playlist on my other blog that always starts with Ordinary Miracles which I love and I think is fitting because that’s the title! But I wonder if anyone gets tired of it?)

And lastly, if you’re here from ICLW and you’re new, welcome! I’m at 99 followers and I’ve been anticipating getting to 100 since my 100 Ways to Be Stress Free Through Infertility list!! And…well I’m so close I can barely contain myself! If you follow along I promise to keep it interesting and as stress-free as possible. My whole idea for this blog is to create a community of support! Thanks so much in advance!!

Happy ICLW!!

Sidebar Clean-Up!

cleaning So I’ve been doing some bloggy house-cleaning and organized my sidebar! I’ve added a few things like a search bar and a list of “Favorite Stress Free Posts.” I’ve moved around some blog links (but there all still there), moved down my buttons and moved up the categories and tags. I think this will help navigate to other posts better.

I’ve also added the recommended songs to the “Tunes that Inspire” post and even added a play-list of some of those songs to the sidebar (right on top of the IF Virtual Book Shelf)! The songs do not automatically play but just click away while you’re reading to be inspired! And if you want to add any songs and books, please let me know and I’ll add them on!

Remember, I write this blog for all of you so if you have any suggestions, let me know!! Thanks so much! ;-)

I will be doing a giveaway starting tomorrow from Fertile Garden to kick off ICLW! So do come back!

RELAX?!?

istock photo

istock photo

OK, so I was caught up in a post recently from Busted Plumbing about an Infertile Cat Fight which involved a comment left on Naomi’s 999 Reasons to Laugh at Infertility‘s Face.book page. A woman who had gone through PCOS and over 2 years of TTC recently got pregnant and felt that ”the reason it happened was bcz i stopped thinkin about it.” Then a fight ensued as many women took offense to it and it went back and forth. (See the whole text here if you’re dying to read it all! And while you’re there go over to my page to become a fan! ;-) )

Anyway, it got me thinking about how the whole “RELAX!” or “Just don’t think about it” comments and how it could relate to my blog. I am well aware that the title “Stress Free Infertility” can be considered an oxymoron. You may wonder how you could possibly be stress FREE through your infertility…and perhaps it may be construed as me telling you to RELAX and you will get pregnant.

Many readers may be thinking that your infertility causes stress and stress could potentially be contributing to your infertility and it is a vicious cycle that you feel trapped in. Well, it is this very thinking that got me to create this blog.

So rest assured that although I would never come right out and say it, I am not even implying for you to RELAX throughout my blog posts because this very comment would most probably cause more stress! But by reducing the stress you are under in the various ways presented here, you may have better results in getting pregnant (which is detailed in the article linked below).

Ask yourself this, if you do something that helps with stress (meditating, reading, writing, listening to music, acupuncture, getting a massage, sleeping soundly,  etc.) don’t you feel better overall? That is my goal…to help you through this whole mess of infertility by feeling better. If you are able to achieve a pregnancy, then that is another wonderful side effect now isn’t it? ;-)

While writing this, I stumbled on an excellent article worth checking out.

Stress and Infertility

(Since I haven’t done a Fertility News post in a while, consider this a consolation prize!)
