Upon this upcoming holiday, you may be already hurting. Seeing all the Mother’s Day cards adorn the aisles of your local market, all the commercials on T.V. to get mom that “something special“ and all the advertisements all over the web for that “great deal for mom” would make any motherless woman (trying so desperately to be a mom) want to crawl under a rock. But, Mother’s Day is more than just a day to celebrate as a mom. It’s a day to remember your own mom and any other motherly figure in your life. Overwhelmed by a failed IVF cycle one year, I lost sight of that and the day went way too fast and moments with my own mom on this very special holiday were lost. And, sadly the following year, I could never get those back. You see, months earlier, just before finding out I was finally pregnant after 2 more IVF cycles, my mom passed on. And my very first Mother’s Day was also the very first one without my mom.
Sometimes we may feel so small, so unworthy, so broken. But, if we remember that life goes on and can change in the blink of an eye, we never know what the future will bring or what rainbow could be lurking behind those dark rain clouds. I’m linking to a song by Carrie Underwood called So Small. It’s a beautiful, inspirational song that I hope you will love. In it, there’s a line that says, “Time’s flying by, moving so fast. You better make it count ’cause you can’t get it back.” And that’s so true about this holiday and dealing with infertility in general. Make each day count on this journey. “‘Cause sometimes that mountain you’ve been climbing, is just a grain of sand.” And the time may eventually seem, “so small” in the big picture. Keep hope alive. “Don’t run out on your faith.” Always believe in love, because it “is all that matters after all.”
