I’m sure you followed the story and had strong feelings about the “octo-mom” Nadya Suleman. She was probably one of the biggest news stories of 2009. And whether you applauded her or hated her, there was definitely something to be said about the practices at her fertility clinic. I don’t know about you, but I have always been curious about how her fertility doctor, Micheal Kamrava, could get away with transferring so many embryos. Well, recently he has been formerly accused of negligence by the California medical board.

Octuplet Doctor Accused of Negligence

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
It’s about time they make this doctor answer for his behavior, but I gotta admit, as a sub-fertile the thing that most grabbed my attention was the “embryo glue” he claims to have used to make the embryos stick. Huh?? and where can I get some??
I thought it was crazy and I’m glad they are making him accountable. To be truly honest, it weirds me out when anymore than 2 embryos are transferred. My RE told me there is really no evidence that putting 6 embryos in anyone creates higher success rates. He has another patient who is in her 40′s expecting quads, so this guy hasn’t only been irresponsible this once.
I also thought the embryo glue stuff was crazy. I’ve never heard of something like that! It would be best if he wasn’t practicing anymore. Stories like these make us infertiles look like science projects. Which is not good when you advocate for insurance benefits being required for infertility treatments.
I thought it was going to be some boring old post, but it really compensated for my time. I will post a link to this page on my blog. I am sure my visitors will find that very useful
Sad is the nicest thing I can say about this story. I have avoid discussing it because A. I don’t want to give a nutto anymore publicity because it is obvious that is what she wants.
B. It makes my blood boil just thinking about it and we all know the favorite advice to IF women is to relax. This story does not make me relax.
However, I do feel something should be done in the regards of a single woman living off the government already having that many kids. On the other hand it concerns me when we start talking about what can and cannot be done with someone’s body. It is a fine line to walk. My main issue is that she didn’t have a way to financial care for these children and just assumed that someone(government) would take care of that minor detail. I can’t afford IVF so how could she? To me it is more about common sense and being realistic with what you are capable of doing.

I agree with Junebug and Ashley, this story definitely makes me upset. I think Nadya and her doctor have definitely tainted the infertility world for the average fertile that doesn’t understand it. But, we have to be self advocators ladies and get our stories heard!!)
Love the comments ladies! Keep them coming!
